MARGIT KOLLER: The Space of Release – Placemaking for Those Affected by Perinatal Grief

Koller Margit’s project, The Space of Relief – Creating Space for Those Affected by Perinatal Grief, is a grassroots initiative that aims to create a safe physical and mental space for families who have experienced perinatal loss (early child loss). Its ultimate goal is the creation of a public memorial site that supports the processing of personal and collective grief through sensory spatial experience.

The central element of the exhibition is Margit Koller’s 1:1 scale model, in which the tools of sculpture and architecture jointly shape a spatial concept grounded in bodily and emotional experience—one that may later serve as the basis for the realized memorial site. In the lower gallery space, the model functions as an interactive, spatial-experience-based installation open to visitors.

The upper gallery explores the psychological and representational aspects of perinatal loss, in dialogue with Szilvia Vivi Papp’s video series Hoztam e világra (I Brought You into This World), alongside poems by Tamás Bende , Réka Borda, Mónika Ferencz, Gabriella Györe , Eszter Kállay , Hanna Lili Seres, Kinga Tóth, and a photographic series by Ania Jopp. Visitors can also view architectural visualizations by Pi-Hun Architects & Engineers, which project possible future forms of the memorial site.
