EM Guide's mission to support independent music journalism has taken another step beyond the online space (after their first successful live event) and materialized in a physical issue: the first edition of the EM Guide magazine is now available!
Music, resistance and the power of listening. The tagline we used for the magazine sums up its content perfectly. Dealing with music is one thing, but we must also reflect on the current events in the world around us through it. The articles selected for the print magazine cover a wide range of topics from representing underground music communities for civil resistance, the resurgence of folk in contemporary music, to thought experiments on how technology would shape making and listening to music.
Beyond text, what makes the magazine so special is its tactility and expressive, raw design –by Vojtěch Cejnek–, accompanied by artistic photographs.
EM Guide is a platform of 5 European underground music magazines: 3/4 (Slovakia), Easterndaze (Czechia), Kaput Magazin (Germany), MMN Mag (Hungary). On Cologne (Germany) - and as a conclusion of an EU project a best-of print magazine of articles from the last 2 years was created.
